How to Change the Media from Your Own Community

A SIGNIFICANT MOVEMENT OF PRAYER for the leaders of global media is under way, and you can be a part of it. You can bring this National Media Prayer Day movement to your home, your church, and your community.

Start by appointing yourself a “point person” in this strategy,
contacting Burton Swardstrom at the National Media Prayer Day office today. Then, follow the easy steps below.

Be the “point person” in your local church by . . . securing permission and support from church leadership.

  1. Make an appointment with your pastor and/or church leadership as soon as possible to present the concept and gain their approval to share information with the congregation.
  2. Discuss with the leadership ways to include instruction and motivation to pray for media's leaders in your worship services, Sunday school, or adult education classes on MARCH 8, 2009.
  3. Suggest ways to enrich your worship service with this emphasis by . . .

    • Having the pastor or designated communicator speak on the power of prayer to change the lives of media leaders and their media product through spiritual rebirth.
    • Showing a video clip which demonstrates the power of media to influence our culture.
    • Asking a prominent Christian media professional (or two) from your community to give personal testimony to the need for prayer and a spiritual awakening in media.
    • Challenging church members and your church to give free Master Plan Bibles—custom-designed for media professionals—to non-Christians in media (available through Mastermedia International).
    • Having all church attendees who work in, have retired from, or who are students preparing to enter media professions come forward in the service to receive a prayer of “commissioning” to take the light of Christ into their media worlds.

Be the “point person” in your community by . . .

    • Asking God for ways to promote the prayer day in other churches and in local media.
    • Reproducing—from the National Media Prayer Day website—
additional posters for various locations, at other churches, for Christian bookstores, for businesses, etc.
    • Asking a local radio or television station to announce the National Media Prayer Breakfast and National Media Prayer Day as a “public service announcement.”
    • Encouraging local clergy groups to be a part of the National Media Prayer Day.
