A Positive Polish on the New York Apple

New York, as much or more as Hollywood, is an epicenter of global media. Nearly all of the major film and television structures have offices in Manhattan or in nearby cities. Many of the financial decisions and product funds derive from the Wall Street-Hollywood connection.

Since 1985, Mastermedia has been building trust and credibility with top New York media leaders. Literally hundreds of Big Apple media gatekeepers have a trust relationship with the organization’s leadership. The organization’s Madison Avenue office and full time staff provide support for the effort.

A key strategy to serve these influential people is the Corporate Seminar, a ninety-minute live presentation designed to help media leaders understand the $2.1 trillion evangelical Christian market (Source: WPP Group “Mindshare North America” Research, 2008). Created at the request of the head of a multi-billion dollar New York media conglomerate, the seminar has been described as “masterful” and “insightful.” It has been presented for executives at Time, Life, Fortune, People, Parenting, MTV, HBO, AMC, Cartoon Channel, CNN, ESPN, and other companies. Beginning in 2009, the seminar has been an authorized breakout session at the annual National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) Convention. After one presentation, a contributing editor of a national magazine said, “You’re changing the way I think!”

A strategic part of Mastermedia’s organization is mentoring Christian media professionals for positive spiritual influence in their New York workplaces, both one-on-one and in small groups. Three men’s study groups and one women’s group continue to thrive, attended by company presidents, vice presidents, Emmy award-winning producers, writers, actors and news correspondents.

Some of these Mastermedia devotees have given their time to mentor Christian media students, twenty of whom have now been placed in responsible positions at a major TV network and a film company. They are involved in program planning, writing, blogging, and other responsibilities that are atypical for first-time interns. These bright young people have been very well received, and one has been offered a permanent position at a leading network.

Mastermedia’s mission to have a positive influence inside media is being achieved in the Big Apple, as well as in Hollywood and around the world.
